What is My Updated Hair Growth Routine for 2024?
My hair has grown SO much since I started taking better care of it in 2023.
Here is a before & after.
This is in Summer 2021. My hair was blonde, but very dead at the ends & growing SO slow.
This was Summer 2024. I shared a full length photo so you can see how much longer my hair is, darker, MUCH healthier.
I learned so much honestly from TikTok & my own research, First, is the vitamins. I took Nutrafol for over a year & it worked very well. Now I am using Wellbel. I had a few meetings with Wellbel last year & was beyond impressed with not just the company, but the project. The Doctor who created Wellbel did so because of his own family struggling with hair thinning. Wellbel is one less pill a day than Nutrafol (3 vs 4). With any hair supplement, you have to give it 4-6 months to see results. I can tell you they both work, & you need to stick with it.
Now, I learned about caring for my hair. I used to wash my hair at night, air dry it, and leave it alone. I was trying to keep heat off it. I would wake up with an oily scalp & be so annoyed. Well I learned that it is awful to go to bed with wet hair, can breed bacteria etc. You are better off drying your hair with low heat, & that is much better than going to bed with a wet head.
Now I use my Dyson Airstrait, dry it, then blow it out. Now, I wake up & my hair is perfect, oily scalp gone. I do a small touch up in the morning with the flat iron, but this has basically fixed my oily scalp issues.
I also stopped bleaching my hair, not only do I look back & completely hate my hair blonde, but it was awful so much worse for my hair. I dye my roots & do a glaze but no more bleach.
As far as hair washing, I used to wash my hair 1-2x a week. Now I wash it 2-3x a week, basically whenever it needs to be washed. I used to be the biggest dry shampoo lover, but I saw when I did a head spa (& they use the camera) how badly it was clogging my scalp. I am not saying throw all your dry shampoo away, but limit its use. My favorite dry shampoos are this one, this one, & this one.
Hair oiling has also been a game changer for my hair. I oil my scalp/ends 1-2x a week. I try to leave the oil in 3-4 hours, & the last hour or so before I wash, I put in a hair mask. Hair oil on its own is not enough, you also need to stimulate your scalp. I have a few things I use for that, one for in the shower, & one for the rest of the time. These go hand in hand, oiling & scalp brushing/massaging.
This is my Bamboo wooden hair brush I use after oiling & daily. It works so well! I use this one in the shower, while I shampoo (just be careful with silicone to not tug or pull on the hair). This is my wooden scalp comb, I use this a few times a day for a random scalp massage (its next to my laptop so I can use it while I work).
There are a million oils out there. You can try a few to see which you like best. I can personally recommend this one (my absolute fave), this one, this one, & this one.
Here is everything I shared:
I will follow this post up with another featuring my favorite hair masks, leave in conditioners & shampoo/conditioners.
My last tip, eat PROTEIN! I started eating 100-140g of protein a day last year. Not only did this aid in my weight loss, but it also aided in my hair growth.
I hope this helped, I know so many of us struggle with wanting to grow our hair.
