5 Reasons Visit Amelia Island, Florida.
We visited Amelia Island, Florida over the summer after it being on my travel wish list for YEARS. I had heard such wonderful things about their beaches, & that it was the perfect destination for a family trip. Well, after waiting for so long to visit, I can tell you that Amelia Island was everything I hoped it would be, and more.
Here are my Top 5 reasons to book a trip ASAP to Amelia Island.
- There is SO much to do for families. We visited Fort Clinch State Park, which had so much interesting history & set right on a beach we had so much fun exploring. We also visited the Amelia Island Museum of History, which was child-friendly and a great way to spend an hour or two. On our last night, we did a Family-Friendly Sunset Cruise with Amelia River Cruises. We got to see wild horses on the beach, & dolphins swimming right next to our boat. If the gorgeous sunset wasn’t enough, the enchanting animals made the night so magical.
2. Amelia Island has the most fun restaurants for kids. A lot of the places we ate had playgrounds & sandboxes for the kids to play while you dine. I thought this was such a genius concept, it keeps the kids entertained while waiting for your food & you can keep an eye on them the whole time. Our favorite restaurant was Sliders, so good & perfect ambiance too.
3. The beaches are some of the most gorgeous we have seen yet in our travels. We could have spent our whole time in Amelia Island at the beach and been SO happy in doing so. Some of the beaches you can even drive on which was cool to see. The beaches were also NOT super crowded which made it very enjoyable.
4) Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach is GORGEOUS. There are tons of interesting shops, cafes, dining, & everything is vibrant, colorful & SO beautiful. We walked around after lunch one day & stopped to check out all the murals, pink buildings (so dreamy) & we could not get over how beautiful it was.
5. They have fun events & things going on all year – so its the perfect trip year-round. Here is the official 2023 Events Calendar from the Amelia Island official website. Whatever your interests are, Amelia Island has you covered. One of my friends visited during the holiday season last year & she was BLOWN away by the Dickens On Centre Victorian Christmas Festival. There are things going on every single month, the only problem you may have is deciding which time would be your favorite to visit.
