Hey beauties! For a few months now I have been researching what to do with my eyebrows. I am so over filling them in everyday. Its a pain, I hate doing it, & now there are plenty of alternatives so that I don’t have to!
Thick, long eyebrows are so in right now & I couldn’t be happier. I hate thin, over-plucked brows! Unfortunately, over-plucked brows were “in” in my teenage years, & many of my friends (including myself) are now paying the price for it. My eyebrows have grown back from their thinner days, but the tail isn’t as long as I would like.
Now along comes microblading, & its distant cousin, micropigmentation (or powder brows as you may know it as).
Microblading & micropigmentation are both forms of cosmetic tattooing. They use different needles to produce different results. Microblading gives you a very natural look. It can give you the eyebrow shape you always dreamed of, with very natural results. Microblading can cost anywhere from $500-$1000 depending on who does it (of course this is not the type of thing you want a bargain on, its your FACE!). The results can last 2 years maybe 3. Micropigmentation gives you a more “filled in” look. It looks more like makeup, how your eyebrows would look if you filled them in. Micropigmentation can cost anywhere from $250-$700 & the results can last up to 3 years. With both, you get a touch up at the 6 week mark. At this touchup appointment, any adjustments can be made to the color, or shape.
The other major difference is that microblading can only be done up to 3 times due to the potential for scarring. Some technicians differ on this, some have told me that is not true. The majority of technicians have told me that they would not recommend getting it done more than 3 times. Micropigmentation can be done an unlimited amount of times because it is a different needle, & should not scar.
There are also some technicians who combine the two. You can do microblading with powder brow shading, to achieve a look that gives you the best of both worlds.
Depending who does your micropigmentation, you can achieve a very natural look, similar to microblading. For me micropigmentation will most likely be the option I am going to choose. I have narrowed it down to 2-3 places I would like to get it done. Of course I will cover the procedure from the initial step, to the 6 week touchup, & after.
Have you done microblading or micropigmentation? I would love to hear your experiences.
