Hey beauties! This weekend my family took a whirlwind, CRAZY trip from NJ to VA/NC. We were invited to come as VIP guests to experience the event Autumn at Oz, at the Land of OZ in North Carolina. I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Wizard of Oz fan, so I knew I had to make this happen! Somehow, someway, we were going to this event! Luckily my husband is very go-with-the-flow, & my biggest supporter, so he was totally on board. The drive was 9.5 hours to the Land of Oz, and 8 to our hotel. We had a birthday party for one of my older daughter’s besties on Saturday that we could not miss, so we could not leave until 5:30. With stops for dinner & gas we got to our hotel at 2:30 am. We got to Land of Oz the next day (another 90 min drive later) at 1:30 in the afternoon! We were at Land of Oz all day & then went 2 hours later in the car to another hotel! We drove home Monday morning and got home around 9:00 pm. Crazy? Absolutely! Worth it? ABSOLUTELY! When you hear about Land of Oz, you will understand why!
Land of Oz is MAGICAL! This is a once in a lifetime type of experience. I teared up numerous times on this trip because I couldn’t believe where I was. My crazy family drove to the top of a mountain in North Carolina to see Land of Oz & it was worth all the chaos just to have experienced this. It felt like we WERE in Oz! It felt like we WERE in Kansas! It felt like we WERE in Munchkinland! I mean it felt like we were in the movie, every single step of the way. More than I can explain it, I can show you & walk you through the pictures!
This was at the bottom of the Beech Mountain Resort. You drive to the Beech Mountain resort & park your car. Then you at the resort visit the pop-up Wizard of Oz Museum, the Village (which has all different vendors, food trucks, pony rides etc). You wait for your colored bracelet to be called & from there you board a shuttle to head to Land of Oz, allllllll the way on top of the mountain. It was a 10-15 minute bus ride.
This was outside the museum which had some amazing Land of Oz memorabilia.
The village was really cool & was really amazing to see all the different items the crafters were selling!
This was when we arrived to Land of Oz & saw the map of the grounds. I was SO excited to get in & see everything!
This was our view from the top!!!!!
This is where the action started! Professor Marvel & Dorothy! They re-enacted their scene together!
Mrs. Gulch was FANTASTIC!
Right outside the Gale residence! The next few photos are the inside of the Gale residents BEFORE the tornado! Then we ran into Aunt Em! You then walk around a tunnel & go “through” the tornado & see all the damage the tornado did to the Gale home!
Oh HEY Aunt Em!
Once we exited the home, we were greeted (by surprise) by the Wicked Witch of the West! She asked us if we dropped a house on her sister? And something about ruby slippers?
We were now in Munchkin Land & greeted by the LOVELY Glinda, the Good Witch of the North! She was so charming & lovely.
Glinda sprinkled some magic on the girl’s ruby slippers!
Off on the yellow brick road we go!
Just taking an apple from the tree! Remember what happened when Dorothy did that?
Lions & tigers & bears, OH MY!
Poppies will make you very sleepy!
Bell out of order, please knock!
The horse of another color!
We watched a show in Emerald City & after we were able to meet everyone all at once!
No detail here was left unturned! The characters had the voices down, the costumes down, the magic down. This was MAGICAL! No other way to put it.
Land of Oz is currently open every Friday in June for an event with Dorothy & one weekend in September for Autumn in Oz. They are currently looking to add more events through the year. You can check out their website here! I would recommend buying tickets ASAP for Autumn in Oz when they go on sale. Saturday sold out in JUNE!
This is an experience I am literally so grateful that my children will be able to look back on & see that they did this, & experienced this! I cannot express enough gratitude to Land of Oz for sponsoring our trip to Land of Oz.
Here are the links to what the girls were wearing!
