Top Activities For Family Trips to Philadelphia!
I am a city girl! I was born & raised in Brooklyn. I feel comfortable in big cities & enjoy the noise, the skyscrapers, the fast-pace speed! Once we moved to NJ, I loved that Philly was as close to us as going to NYC. Philly is a BEAUTIFUL city that we visit multiple times a year. We usually do day trips since it is so close but this time we worked with Visit Philly to have a weekend stay & get to do as much as we can fit into our weekend.
I love the vibe in Philly. There is plenty of trees, water, but also buildings, GORGEOUS architecture, & a variety of all kinds of people. There is SO much to do for families that one weekend would never be able to cover it all. We did manage to do a lot though!
Let me give you a quick rundown of our itinerary that so many of you have requested!
Saturday:
1)We started our day at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Philadelphia. I was invited to come & partake in the festivities they were having to celebrate the Lego Movie 2. We had a blast, we could have easily stayed there ALL DAY. I have a discount code to share for 40% off tickets, which is good until the end of the month. USE CODE: JR4LDC FOR 40% OFF!
2)We then went for lunch to get a famous Philly cheesesteak at Dalessandro’s Steaks & Hoagies. I get mine with no cheese but with onions and peppers. We have tried many cheesesteak places in Philly over the year. Dalessandros was a new one for us that was HIGHLY recommend by people we know that spend tons of time in Philly. There was a long wait for people dying to get their hands on this delicious sandwich. It was so good, the girls gobbled it up too!
3)Next we went to the Shofuso Japanese House & Garden. They invited us to come check out their beautiful house & grounds. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous. Such a great time of year to visit too.
4)Then we checked in at our FABULOUS HOTEL! We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City. The package we had was the Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package which came with SO many awesome perks! There are other hotels to choose from for this great package, but we were beyond happy with the DoubleTree. Check out how to book here!
5)We had dinner at the AMAZING Cuba Libre. They invited us to come check out the restaurant. We LOVE Cuban food so this was a no-brainer. The restaurant is gorgeous, and makes you feel like you are right in Havana! Our meal was SO good! I had these crab fritters, just WOW!
Sunday:
1)We went to Reading Terminal Market for breakfast. Reading Terminal Market is a HUGE marketplace. You can walk around the aisles and buy so many different types of food. You can buy desserts, goodies, basically any thing you can think of. It is MASSIVE, and it its really cool to see all the different things they have there. There is nothing like this anywhere else I have traveled, I really enjoy spending time here! The girls loved taking in all the different businesses & what they were selling.
2)Next we went to our FAVE place in Philly, The Philadelphia Zoo! The Philly Zoo invited us to spend the day & this was a perfect day to go. The weather was gorgeous & it was perfect. We love the animals there & they even added a playground area since we were there last. They have swan boats & petting areas. It is so perfect for kids of all ages to enjoy.
3)We ended our trip with dinner at Chima Steakhouse. We love Brazilian Rodizio & heard wonderful things about Chima Steakhouse. When they asked us to come for dinner, we were so excited! The girls love the steak also! Everything was seasoned & cooked perfect. I think this was my hubby’s favorite part of the trip! Family-friendly and delicious too, total win!
Are you exhausted yet because we are! We had so much more we wanted to do. One weekend simply is not enough. We could have easily spend 2 more nights to cover more of what we had wanted to do!
Thank you again Visit Philly for a fab weekend. AND AGAIN IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO PLAN A TRIP TO PHILLY – TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE VISIT PHILLY OVERNIGHT HOTEL PACKAGE! It is so worth it! Check out the link here!
